Hi, I am new here and was wondering if anyone knows "where" I can find
"FLAKO pie cust mix, stores online, etc.?" My mom used to use it when I
was growing up. It was a WONDERFUL flakey pastry mix. If anyone could
help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I remember it, but I don't think it's made anymore.

I've looked and concluded it's not made any more. The stories I could tell!

Boy howdy, I haven't heard that name since around 1963. However, the
Flako product line is now/was owned by Quaker Oats out of Macedon New
York. That may be a place to start. However I am pretty sure it
doesn't exist as a separate product anymore.

It may still exist. I found

"Finally, there is a Flako pie crust mix (most economical at 50 cents
per box) which, when mixed with 1/3 cup cold water, can be rolled out
into two pie crusts or a double crust for one pie. While the box does
not specify the size of the pies, I rolled them out to make two rather
thin 9-inch crusts. Oddly enough, the box mix came with microwave
directions--that certainly would not be "a tasty thing to set before the
king." The mix also contains a long list of chemical-sounding
ingredients. You might want to try the old method--flour, shortening,
egg and liquid--after you taste the rather salty, uninspired results of
the box mixes."

I just make my own. No eggs, though. I just add flour, shortening and a
little cold water. I don't measure and I don't spend much time mixing
it together. It's as flaky as anything, but I've been doing it a while.

Flako had some lard. I either make my own or use Oronoque farms. That's
a bit cakey, but that's all right too. Even philo dough works. My mother
and I learned to cook together, so "just like mother made" means
"anything goes".
